Bachna Ae Haseeno
I have been super busy since July 17th because I have engaged a new client. The blog has not been updated and worse, I have not had a chance to watch any films (the last one I watched was on PPV - Vantage Point).
Ranbir Kapoor’s latest (BAH) was released August 15, 2008 (India’s Independence Day!) and I am hearing great reviews from film goers but not so much from the critics. I most likely will catch it on DVD because my boyfriend doesn’t care for Hindi films and—I just don’t have the time to go to a matinee show. The suspense is exciting me especially since his dad made a lot of young girls in his days slash their writs by dancing to the same title tune (different lyrics - catered to the kal gone by of course!).
Anyway, check out the hot title number here. [ VIDEO ]. Have a look at the [theatrical trailer at youtube] - review will be posted when original DVD is released and I have had a chance to watch it (hopefully before Dec 2008!)
What is the movie about?
If you are a bollywood fan then you know that Yash Raj films are masters of narrating love stories. In the past, it was Mr. Yash Chopra himself who had produced, directed and scripted so many of his earlier films since the 70s. Then, his son Aditya took over the mantle and his very first direction (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge) became an all time blockbuster that woo’ed young and old.
Lately, however, Yash Raj has been producing many films but have been hiring outsiders to direct them. Some have been successful, some not. Bachna Ae Haseeno is another instalment from producers Yashraj. For this project they have chosenTa Ra Rum Pum’s Siddharth Anand to direct Bachna Ae Haseeno. Let’s hope for a different outcome because TRRP was a miss!
Synopsis:
Boys will be boy and girls don’t change! Despite warnings from experienced friends and parents, girls fall in love with guys who sweep them off their feet. Then what?
The story is about Raj (played by Ranbir Kapoor) who personifies “dream boy” for young hearts and those young at heart! He is dashing, dreamy and steamy. In a nut shell, this is a story about a guy who falls in love for a short while and then breaks ladies’ hearst – all very real life story – something that has happened to most of us and especially something that Ranbir in real life admits to have experienced first hand (i.e. he is a heart breaker in real life – how sweet!).
Tag Line: Come Fall in Love THRICE!
Expectations:
A lot is expected from Ranbir. Not much is expected from the script. Ranbir stars with real life girlfriend Deepika Padukone – believe her character is one of those whose heart gets broken. We have seen movies like this before but Yash Raj promises it to be different – because, not only, of the girls and the director; But mainly because of Ranbir who is son of real life heart breaker of millions of hearts—Rishi Kapoor. Rishi who broke young hundreds of thousands of hearts when he got married to Neetu Singh at a very young age.
But if Ranbir’s parents are anything to go by than this philanderer will settle down once and for all – when he meets the right one. But that is his personal life. Question is: Does Raj meet his Neetu Singh in the film?
