Principles of Joy—V
5. Carpe Diem!
This one actually is a principle of Law of Attraction. When opportunity comes knocking, seize it! Of course, you have to learn to recognize opportunity—and this is where awareness and meditation comes into play—if you have been meditating then you will be (in time at least) able to act swiftly and accordingly!
I remember when I was younger—I would do things without thinking too much about it—go with the flow, so to speak. I never said back then that “I was too tired, or I didn’t have the money, or that I wasn’t good enough”. And recalling my past, I do realize that despite challenges in my life, I have always enjoyed the best of things—mainly because of just seizing the moment.
My mother made sure all her children had best education available in the country. She dressed us in the finest of clothes – made sure we had loads of good food to eat. We didn’t have chocolates in my country when I was growing up so my mom would make a soufflé for us every weekend! Oh gosh, those were happy days!! What I am trying to say is that she made sure we had a joyful life. One, better than she had.
So in that atmosphere, it is very easy to not doubt self or feel inadequate or inferior! Growing up, I had a healthy dose of self esteem. I would date the coolest guys in school (and after college). You know the type—the popular ones. Like a college quarterback or the best looking guy in school. In my school, we did not have geeks or doo doo’s. Back then, not once did I wonder “what does he see in me”? They asked me out—I said yes and there it was.
Lately, after a very … very long time, I have learned to be again that opportunity inviting and seizing person. After a lot of hardship, tears and negative thoughts in the past few years, I have realized that life is what I make of it. And so these days, I just say “yezza” to everything that comes my way. Well, okay, not everything! I don’t do birthdays and I don’t do weddings! Part of it because I find I don’t agree with a lot of conversation that goes on in that atmosphere so I keep myself well off anything that will steal my joy!
But otherwise, I do seize the moment every single time the warning signs or the red flags are missing. Which means … these days, I see a lot of green and amber flags which keeps my heart and mind fulfilled with joy and content even when I am shopping for groceries!
One warning though: If you are looking for money or a man then stop harassing the opportunity to win by assuming the next lottery ticket you buy will be the jackpot winner or that the next cute guy you bump into will be the “right man”. Just enjoy life moving with the flow downstream and the rest will fall into place!
Good luck and good things are a magnet to bliss and joy! So stay in the zone and allow everything before rejecting it! Carpe Diem!
